Product Title Optimizer

The title is the highest-leverage field in any listing and the one most often written to the wrong length. Amazon permits 200 characters and truncates display at roughly 80. eBay permits 80 and means it. Writing to the published maximum is a reliable way to produce a title that ranks for nothing and reads badly.

Rewrite titles to the destination's real target rather than its ceiling.

Product Title Optimizer: what actually matters

The maximum is not the target

Amazon allows 200 characters and truncates at around 80 on mobile, where most traffic lands — so characters past that point are indexed but invisible to the person deciding whether to click. Walmart asks for 50 to 75 and penalises stuffing through its content quality score. The pattern is consistent: the platforms with the most generous limits are not asking you to use them.

Front-load, because truncation eats the end

Every marketplace truncates somewhere, and all of them truncate from the right. Whatever is at the end of your title is the part a mobile shopper never sees. Brand, product type and the primary attribute belong in the first forty characters; qualifiers and variant detail belong after.

Keyword stuffing now actively hurts

Titles assembled by concatenating every term the seller wants to rank for were once tolerated. They are now penalised on the platforms that publish quality scores, and they convert badly regardless — a human reading a comma-delimited keyword list does not read it as a product. Relevance is judged across the whole listing, not by title density.

One product, several titles

The same product needs a different title per marketplace, not a trimmed version of one title. The eBay 80-character version is not the Amazon title cut short; it is a different sentence built on the same facts. Drafting to the tightest constraint first and expanding is the order that works.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the optimizer use search-volume data?

No. ListIQ Pro does not provide keyword volume databases, demand data or rank tracking. It writes titles from the product itself and the destination's rules. If you want volume data, dedicated research platforms do that and we compare against them honestly.

Will it fit eBay's 80-character limit?

Yes — that is a hard cap and the output respects it. If you want to assemble an eBay title by hand instead, the eBay title builder on this site is free and needs no account.

Can I check a title I have already written?

Yes, with the free listing character counter on this site. It counts a title against Amazon, Walmart, Etsy and eBay limits simultaneously and needs no account.

What does it cost?

Title generation is part of listing generation, which costs one credit per marketplace. The free plan includes 10 credits a month with no payment card.
