Lifestyle Shot Generator: what actually matters
Scale is the job
Buyers return items that arrive smaller than they pictured, and a return costs far more than the photograph would have. A lifestyle shot that puts the product in a recognisable environment — a hand, a desk, a kitchen counter — resolves scale in a way that a dimensions table never quite does, because people do not convert centimetres into intuition.
Which slots a lifestyle image should fill
After the main image, the highest-value slots are scale, in-use, detail, what-is-in-the-box, and specification callouts. Most listings stop at two. The in-box shot in particular pre-empts the single most common negative review, which is some version of “I thought X was included”.
Etsy is the exception that rewards this most
On Amazon lifestyle is a supporting slot. On Etsy it is frequently the main event — the platform's own guidance pushes context, process and scale, and a pure white packshot often underperforms there. If you sell on both, the Etsy gallery should not be the Amazon gallery reordered.
Keep the claim honest
A lifestyle image is still a product claim. Showing the product doing something it does not do, at a size it is not, or with accessories that are not included, produces returns and negative reviews even when it is technically permitted. The image that converts best is the accurate one, because the return rate is part of the margin.

Can it show a person using the product?
The six generated image types are white background, lifestyle, infographic, lifestyle context, use case and promo banner. For apparel and wearables specifically, where drape and fit cannot be judged from a flat lay, plan on a photograph of the real product on a real person.
Can I use a lifestyle image as my main image?
Not on Amazon or Walmart, where the main image must be a pure white packshot with no props or scenery. Lifestyle images belong in the secondary slots. On Etsy the rules are different and a lifestyle image often works better as the lead.
How long is the output kept?
A daily purge clears generated images on every plan including paid ones, typically within about 48 hours. Download what you want to keep straight away.
