Marketplace search
What is Organic rank?
Organic rank is a listing's unpaid position in marketplace search results for a given query. It is driven mainly by relevance and sales velocity, not by advertising spend directly.
Why it matters
Advertising influences organic rank indirectly. Paid sales contribute to velocity, and velocity contributes to rank, which is why launch strategies often accept a high ACoS deliberately to buy position.
Conversion rate matters as much as traffic. A listing that ranks well but converts badly tends to lose position, because the marketplace reads poor conversion as poor relevance.
Rank is query-specific. Being first for a long-tail phrase and invisible for the head term is normal, and often more profitable.
